The Finance Officer will manage day-to-day transactional processes including purchase ledger, income recording, bank reconciliations and basic payroll support. This Finance Officer post starts January 2026, with a planned induction and handover arranged before January 2026 so the Finance Officer can begin the spring term confidently. Position details Role: Finance Officer — Watford Start date: January 2026 Contract: Permanent / Full-Time (school dependent) Main duties Maintain purchase ledger and process supplier payments accurately and on time. Reconcile bank accounts and monitor income from trips, lettings and school meals. Assist with payroll input, expense processing and pensions paperwork in liaison with the SBM. Prepare routine financial summaries to support monthly management reporting and audits. Keep organised records for auditors and ensure compliance with school finance procedures across Watford. Person specification Experience in transactional finance, ideally within education, and strong numeracy skills. Confident with accounting systems and Excel; accurate with reconciliations and supplier queries. Reliable, methodical and able to prioritise tasks in a busy Watford school office.
