Role: Senior Hardware Engineer

The Senior Hardware Engineer (will consider applications from a Senior level candidate with 10+ years of relevant experience in designing hardware) will be able to make their mark on a broad and varied range of product designs and will be expected to assist in the integration of these designs into products, being the focal point for the complete system.
Main Duties:
The successful applicant will support the engineering design team across various programmes (both internally and Customer funded) and will involve the following main duties:
1. Develop requirements to ensure compliance to the relevant standards.
2. Work alongside our system engineers on architectures of electronic subsystems
3. Schematic creation, PCB design, component selection, evaluation and verification
4. Working effectively within a multi-disciplined design team
5. Understanding Customer Requirements capture, interpretation and creation of Design Specifications
6. Conduct and direct Analogue & Power Electronic product design and development Solving complex technical problems on new and existing products from our portfolio
7. Electronic Schematic capture, PCB Layout and simulation
8. Conduct and direct Design, commissioning, circuit debug and fault diagnosis through the project lifecycle
9. Ability to Design to Cost and schedule and work within approved budgets
10. Document Verification and Qualification of products to industry and customer standards
11. Hand-on experience with electronic components, demonstrating the ability to assemble, test and troubleshoot hardware in a laboratory environment
12. Configuration of product designs and their controlled change.
13. Prepare technical documents & reports
14. Support customer discussions, leading in your area of expertise.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
15. Experience with embedded digital electronics and microprocessor systems
16. Experience of working with ADC/DAC
17. Experience of working with memory devices such as SRAM, Flash
18. Experience working with FPGAs and SoC technologies.
19. Experience working with Power Electronics technologies.
20. Experience designing custom magnetic components.
21. Experience of creating prototypes and turning them into a production hardware.
22. Experience of supporting PCB designs in conformance with defence engineering standards/airborne standards
23. Experience with High-Speed Interfaces and signal technologies
24. Experience in designing for manufacture
25. Able to present technical information clearly and concisely to others
26. Able to demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills
27. An openness to learn and try new techniques
28. Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment - working independently or with others to overcome obstacles
29. Capable of analysing and reporting on technical data
30. Eligible or holder of current SC security clearance
Desirable:
31. Familiarity with the application of a systems engineering approach across the design and development life cycle
32. Experience using the Mentor Xpedition PCB design tool and SPICE
33. Experience creating DO254 compliant electronic systems
34. PCU development knowledge and/or experience in a similar field
35. Understanding of environmental requirements (shock, vibration, EMC, etc.), experience applying these requirements to a design and experience testing for these requirements
