Senior Commercial Manager – Defence consultancy
Up to £90,000 + Bonus. This will be a department lead position. Flexible location, base contractually from your closest office. Monthly customer visits travel required across the UK.

Our client, an international consultancy business, currently has an opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager within a fast growing commercial department. This is a unique opportunity, a chance to be truly strategic and shape the future of the organisation. The company has a long and successful history of delivering large projects to various private and public sector clients and is on a journey to change the way they do business. The role will be fully within the defence space.
Responsibilities
* Lead the commercial negotiation of new business with both new and existing clients and shape the strategic direction of the function.
* Identify the risks, liabilities, and commitments of contractual agreements; ensure these are clearly understood and that the business fully appreciates any potential impact.
* Review, draft, update and maintain contract documents.
* Monitor and report performance and compliance against contractual obligations including commercial performance, financial management and contract management.
* Work with the contract delivery teams to ensure that the management of change request process and change implementation is carried out in line with the contracts.
* Report on progress of change requests and projects.
* Review contract performance, assessing commercial risks and ensuring appropriate steps are taken to manage the risk.
* Prevent and resolve contractual disputes.
* Assure adherence to Group Commercial Policy.
* Support the client engagement teams in all commercial aspects post contract signature to achieve orders, profit and cash budget and overall management of the Client relationship.
* Support the delivery streams responsible for project delivery and provide clear direction working with the client engagement team.
Qualifications
* Experience working in the defence or aerospace industry would be advantageous.
* Growth mindset – looking at maximizing value and minimizing risk.
* Experience working closely with finance, operations and technical specialists.
* Strong knowledge of both the legal terms & conditions and financials.
