Pig Stockperson - Scottish Borders - £28, – £34, DOE
The Job:
A great opportunity has become available for a Pig Stockperson to join a well run and established breeding pig farm in the Scottish Borders. This is a hands on role working as part of a small team, focused on maintaining high animal welfare and production standards.
You will be responsible for the day to day care of pigs within a breeding unit.
Key responsibilities:
- Feeding pigs according to set feed plans
- Ensuring pigs always have access to fresh water
- Checking stock daily and reporting any health or welfare concerns
- Administering medication and keeping accurate records
- Assisting with AI (training can be provided)
- Moving pigs safely in line with farm procedures
- Monitoring ventilation and shed conditions
- Assisting with loading and unloading pigs
- Cleaning out buildings and maintaining hygiene standards
- Removing manure and soiled bedding
- Recording mortalities and reporting any issues
- Supporting general farm and ground maintenance tasks
- Following health & safety and farm guidelines at all times
The Candidate:
- Full UK driving licence
- Previous livestock or agricultural experience preferred
- Good attention to detail
- Able to keep clear and accurate records
- Hard-working and reliable
- Positive attitude and able to work as part of a team
- Machinery experience helpful but not essential (training available)
- An interest in pigs and animal welfare
