Role: Workshop Manager
Location: Caldicot
Salary: £44,000 - £48,000
We are looking to appoint an experienced Workshop Manager with a welding and fabrication background to take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of our workshop. This role is key to ensuring efficient production, quality compliance, and effective staff management.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Full day-to-day management of the workshop
Programming and managing the work schedule to meet production demands
Ordering materials and managing stock levels
Daily coordination with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services
Liaising closely with the Managing Director on:
Future workload planning
Resolving fabrication and technical queries
Managing the Quality Assurance (QA) system
Ensuring day-to-day compliance with QA requirements
Preparation for audits and supporting audit activities
Agreeing QA system modifications with the Managing Director as required
Management, supervision, and development of workshop staff
Organising recruitment of new workshop personnel in conjunction with the Managing Director
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in a Workshop Manager or senior supervisory role
Strong welding and fabrication background (time-served preferred)
Experience managing production schedules and materials
Sound knowledge of QA systems and audit preparation
Ability to resolve fabrication and technical issues effectively
Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills
Proactive and solutions-focused approach
