About the role
Attendance Officer – Secondary School
Are you passionate about supporting young people to succeed? Do you believe that strong attendance is key to unlocking achievement and future opportunities? If so, this could be the perfect role for you.
We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school within the NEAT Academy Trust to recruit a dedicated Attendance Officer to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is committed to making a real impact on young people’s education, particularly in supporting improved attendance and reducing persistent absence across the school.
The Role
As Attendance Officer, you will play a key role in improving whole-school attendance outcomes. You will take responsibility for supporting attendance in Years 10 and 11, working closely with Year Leaders, while also supporting Years 7–9 in collaboration with pastoral teams.
You will also help to implement and support appropriate interventions, including legal processes where required, to ensure all learners receive their full-time education entitlement.
This is a full-time position (37 hours per week), term-time only with permanent opportunities available.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings:
1. Knowledge of attendance policies, statutory guidance, and safeguarding protocols
2. Experience working with young people and families to improve attendance and engagement
3. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with staff, parents, and external agencies
4. A minimum of Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (or equivalent GCSEs)
The School
The school is a fully inclusive 11–16 setting with a strong sense of community, support, and ambition. Staff and students benefit from excellent relationships, a purposeful learning environment, and a culture that encourages learners to be confident, happy, and successful.
As part of NEAT Academy Trust, the school is one of eight primary and secondary settings working together to nurture, educate, achieve, and transform lives across the North East. The Trust is also home to a national research school, supporting evidence-based practice and professional collaboration across the region
