Job Summary
Work as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering care to patients with support and supervision provided by a registered health care professional. Undertakes personal care activities and clinical care duties with minimal support and supervision as delegated by a registered healthcare professional in accordance with the HEIW All Wales Guidelines for Delegation. Ensures the registered healthcare professional is regularly updated on the patients/clients' condition and progress.
Main duties of the job
* Provide personal care including washing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
* Support safe patient mobility and use of aids.
* Monitor and record vital signs (e.g. BP, pulse, temperature, glucose).
* Assist with continence care, catheter/stoma support, and pressure area care.
* Carry out delegated clinical tasks such as ECGs, phlebotomy, and specimen collection (following training).
* Support patients with cognitive impairments, ensuring dignity and safety.
* Escort patients to other departments and assist with admissions/discharges.
* Maintain accurate documentation and report changes in condition.
* Work under supervision of registered nurses, adhering to infection control and manual handling policies.
* Contribute to a safe, compassionate care environment and support junior staff.

Essential qualifications and knowledge
* Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject or equivalent experience with evidence of work-based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role.
* Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW).
* Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting, including safeguarding principles and confidentiality (GDPR).
Desirable qualifications
* Level 3 qualification in Perioperative Support or equivalent.
Skills and attributes
* Good communication skills – verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and sensitively.
* Ability to work with minimum supervision to a high standard.
* Ability to stay calm in stressful situations.
* Organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise workload.
* Compassionate and caring approach.
* Ability to use technology to undertake the role (e.g. Microsoft Office, Teams).
