Pay Rate: £35 - £38.51 per hour
Contract: Agency / Locum
Working Pattern: Hybrid - home working, office base, and community visits
The Role
We are recruiting Community Occupational Therapists to join the Regaining Independence Service (RIS) within West Sussex. This therapy-led service supports people to maintain or regain independence following illness, injury, or changes in circumstance, using a strengths-based and person-centred approach.
You will work over a short, focused intervention period, supporting individuals in their own homes and local communities, working closely with reablement providers, NHS colleagues, voluntary organisations, and other council services.
Pay Information
Up to £38.51 per hour for candidates assessed at Qualified Occupational Therapist level with over 2 years' experience
Please note: Pay rates are subject to assessment at interview. The rate requested may not be the rate offered. Where a lower rate is offered, managers will provide clear reasoning and feedback.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake strengths-based occupational therapy assessments
Develop, implement, and review outcome-focused intervention plans
Apply risk enablement principles and evidence-based practice
Contribute to safeguarding enquiries
Work flexibly and autonomously across the county
Supervise and support unregistered practitioners, students, and apprentices
Deliver complex physical interventions, including use of community equipment
Essential Requirements
Diploma or BSc in Occupational Therapy (or recognised equivalent)
HCPC registration
Experience in community OT assessment and intervention
Strong understanding of relevant legislation (Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005)
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple agencies
Excellent communication, organisation, and IT skills
Full UK driving licence and access to a car (essential)
Working Arrangements
Mix of home working and office-based work
Community/home visits following completion of induction
Countywide travel, including areas not easily accessible by public transport
