Under the direction of Motion High Power Head of Startup & Warranty, Renewables Field Service provides technical onsite and offsite support and expertise in response to a variety of site work requests, telephone calls and emails regarding installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and programming questions and to technical problems encountered by users of ABB Medium Voltage drives and systems. This in turn results in different actions on the part of the individual depending on the specific circumstances of each case. Execution is performed in a timely manner.
* Perform installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair of ABB Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) for both land based and offshore wind applications.
* Coordinate activities with related groups to most efficiently achieve objectives to ensure customer satisfaction.
* Carry out preparatory work regarding spare parts, testing of tools and equipment, and documentation as required.
* In close cooperation with customers and other ABB teams, take actions to identify new service business opportunities for ABB.
* Associate degree and 7 years of relevant experience or High school diploma/GED and 9 years of relevant experience or military education/experience required.
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field and 5 years of relevant experience highly preferred.
* Knowledge in LV and/or MV Drives, power electronics, motor drives, AC/DC converters, computer network communication protocol, and theory of operation.
* Ability to travel up to 80% of the time, willing to work long hours, 12+, on short notice for extended amounts of time, willing to be on a seven day and up to 21 day travel rotation.
