Overview
Assistant Water Engineer (Civil) at Portsmouth Water. Join the Asset Management team to support the Asset Insights Manager in delivering data-led insights for the AMP8 Investment Programme and help shape the strategic direction for AMP9. Contribute to advancing Asset Intelligence capabilities and support the development of junior team members.
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of technical aspects for medium to large projects and lead small to medium projects.
* Contribute to the development of Asset Intelligence and levelling-up functions.
* Plan and implement data acquisition, quality assurance, and hydraulic modelling activities.
* Design and deliver asset health interventions, including deterioration modelling and condition assessments.
* Coordinate rolling programmes for asset surveys, monitoring, and condition evaluation.
* Assist with network master planning and optimisation strategies.
* Integrate and optimise the use of smart technologies and related data.
* Design and plan capital and operational intervention programmes.
* Mentor graduates in developing analytical systems for water auditing and asset insights.
* Support continuous improvement of asset performance analysis and reporting systems.
* Provide key data and insight services to inform business decisions.
* Contribute to the development of Portsmouth Water’s Asset Management System and Strategic Asset Management Plan.
What you need
Essential
* Engineering, Science or Environmental qualification (degree level minimum)
* Member of a professional body and regularly maintain unsupervised CPD
* Working towards chartership with a professional body
* Methodical and organised
* Ability to work under pressure, whilst managing priorities
* Good time management skills
* Confident and strong communicator at all levels
* Ability to understand and assess numerical and statistical information
* Clear understanding of Engineering functions in a potable water system
Desirable
* Previous experience of supervising direct reports or supporting the development of junior engineers
* Ability to network, establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal/external stakeholders
* Ability to challenge decisions
* Knowledge of Portsmouth Water and the obligations and reporting requirements as well as systems and processes
