General Manager – Tyneside Home ImprovementsDue to exceptional growth and continued demand for our products and services, we are now seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations across our installation, service, customer support, and commercial teams.This key leadership role will ensure our departmental managers are supported, processes are efficient, and projects are delivered to high standards.Reporting to the Managing Director, the GM will be instrumental in driving performance, operational excellence, and internal cohesion across the business.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and management to departmental managers (Installations, Operations, Sales, Customer Service).Act as the primary operational interface between directors and managers.Monitor and improve cross-departmental workflows and handovers.Oversee project scheduling, resourcing, and site delivery performance.Drive consistency in customer experience, installation quality, and post-sale support.Manage weekly management meetings and reporting routines.Support professional development of line managers with coaching and accountability.Work closely with HR, H&S, and finance functions to maintain compliance and governance.Represent the company with clients and stakeholders as needed.Experience & Skills Required5–10+ years’ experience in a similar leadership role, ideally in a construction-related SME.Strong track record of managing operational teams and delivering projects on time and within budgetExcellent leadership, coaching, and delegation skills.Good knowledge of construction site processes, regulations, and health & safety requirements.Hands-on, pragmatic, and able to problem-solve in fast-moving environments.Strong communicator who can build trust at all levels.For more information, or to apply for the role please submit your CV and salary expectations tochris@thi.uk.com
