Overview
The Deputy Repairs Manager provides operational leadership across responsive repairs, voids, disrepair and emergency works, ensuring a safe, high quality and customer focused service. The role supports compliance with the Social Housing Regulation Act, Awaab's Law and wider regulatory standards, while driving performance, data quality and continuous improvement. Working closely with the Repairs Manager, the postholder leads teams, manages contractors, oversees complex cases, monitors budgets and coordinates service planning and transformation. The role requires strong technical knowledge, effective partnership working, confident decision making and a commitment to tenant engagement, safety, transparency and Team Wigan behaviours.
Responsibilities
* Provide operational leadership across responsive repairs, voids, disrepair and emergency works to ensure a safe, high quality and customer focused service.
* Support compliance with the Social Housing Regulation Act, Awaab's Law and wider regulatory standards, driving performance, data quality and continuous improvement.
* Lead teams, manage contractors, oversee complex cases, monitor budgets and coordinate service planning and transformation, in partnership with the Repairs Manager.
* Promote tenant engagement, safety, transparency and Team Wigan behaviours.
Qualifications and experience
* Strong technical knowledge of repairs, maintenance, construction methods and building pathology, with an HNC or equivalent experience.
* Understanding of social housing legislation including Awaab's Law, HHSRS, damp and mould best practice, the Social Housing Regulation Act, Consumer Standards and the Housing Ombudsman Code.
* Experience as a leader, skilled in performance management, problem solving and navigating complex cases.
* Excellent communication, partnership building, political awareness and the ability to work under pressure; commitment to safety, accountability and Team Wigan behaviours.
