Main responsibilities
* Be accountable for senior clinical leadership across the full breadth of our BSW services, acting as a senior clinical voice and trusted advocate for safe practice.
* Provide visible leadership through a structured programme of site visits and service engagement across all shifts, settings and working patterns.
* Chair or co-chair professional nursing and AHP forums across BSW; represent the business unit at organisational and system-level forums; set the standard for clinical leadership within HCRG Care Group.
* Oversee the clinical governance framework with the BSW quality team, ensuring compliance with CQC requirements, statutory obligations and policy.
* Ensure timely Internal Service Reviews with clear action plans and follow-through on clinical elements; provide written assurance on clinical risk and inspection readiness to the CNO and Regional Director.
* Lead learning and improvement when things go wrong, coaching Registered Managers and driving ongoing improvement.
* Lead clinical involvement and engagement in transformation and redesign, including EQIAs, QIAs and clinical validations; approve clinical workforce model changes in partnership with Finance and Operations; oversee research governance approvals across BSW.
* Drive safe staffing and workforce sustainability, ensuring staffing models meet contractual requirements and clinical safety; oversee establishment reviews and safe deployment of advanced practice roles.
* Collaborate with Learning Enterprise to provide training, competency frameworks and development pathways.
* Lead the professional nursing and AHP workforce agenda, from education and competency through to revalidation and career pathways; develop succession for senior roles; engage in Striving For Better networks.
* Support regulation responsibilities in Infection Prevention and Control and Safeguarding; oversee investigations into incidents or concerns about professional performance; promote a culture aligned to Care, Think and Do values and improve engagement, experience and retention.
Qualifications
* Active NMC registration as a Registered Nurse, educated to Master's level
* Deep and proven clinical and operational leadership experience in a complex, diverse healthcare setting, with credibility at senior organisational and system level
* Track record of leading large, multidisciplinary clinical teams through senior managers, building capability and accountability with challenge and support
* Strong knowledge of clinical governance, CQC frameworks, safeguarding and statutory regulatory requirements
* Experience leading clinical transformation, service redesign and workforce change programmes with measurable quality and safety improvements
* Ability to build trusted relationships across a complex system with commissioners, NHS and local authority partners, and frontline teams
* High emotional intelligence, resilience and sound judgement; capable of fast-paced decision-making with competing priorities
* Commercial awareness and understanding of operating within a contract-based, multi-commissioner environment
* Values-driven leadership aligned to Care, Think and Do
* Desirable: experience outside an NHS provider, bringing broader commercial perspective
