Main duties of the job
The Band 7 Nurse and Non Medical Prescriber will contribute to, and be responsible for ensuring the most effective and best use of staff and resources. The post-holder will be responsible for the delivery and monitoring of high standards of nursing care and responsible for nurturing the culture of continued learning and service development ensuring patients are assessed and admitted into the service according to their clinical needs, in accordance relevant clinical protocol and policies providing up-to-date evidence based practice. The post holder needs to be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of security and safety consistent with working within a custodial framework. The post holder will also have responsibility to implement and monitor comprehensive assessments for those patients admitted to the service with substance misuse issues ensuring improved access throughout this prison population for all patients in need of a substance misuse treatment/psychosocial programmes and ensuring continuity of care when discharged back into the community in line with local and national guidelines.

Essential
1. Evidence of personal development since entering the NMC
2. register
Experience
Essential
3. Ability to provide and co-ordinate clinical and management supervision with good organisational skills.
4. Good IT skills with experience of using case management systems SystemOne and Microsoft Word and Excell
5. Experience and understanding of the substance misuse sector.
6. 5 years post-registration experience .
7. 2 years in Substance Misuse at minimum band 6 level
8. Experience of working within prison/secure setting.
Desirable
9. Diploma/Degree in Substance Misuse or equivalent or willingness to undertake.
10. Mentorship in Health and Social Care
11. Non-Medical Prescribing qualification with current NMC registration or willingness to work towards.
