Overview
We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), which is part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.
Responsibilities
* Lead the ECU and provide strategic direction for financial investigations, ensuring compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Manage two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer; motivate and develop the team and manage performance and delivery.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC) and influence senior stakeholders to align with EA priorities.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes, share lessons learnt, contribute to changes in technical documentation, and advise enforcement officers nationwide on POCA.
Team
The ECU consists of two teams—the Asset Denial Team and the Money Laundering Investigations Team—comprising Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts. The unit is nationally dispersed and handles serious and complex criminality involving organised networks.
Experience / Skills Required
* Exceptional leadership skills, preferably with experience leading a dispersed team.
* Good understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act.
* Experience in:
o Working in the law enforcement sector with understanding of the National Intelligence Model
o Effective communication, giving feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders
o Working under pressure and prioritising a varied workload
o Identifying improvements and leading changes to working practices
o Developing and enhancing team and individual capability
Additional Information
* This is a hybrid role with flexible working from home and your nearest office; travel across the country for meetings and operational duties may be required.
* Incident response is a central part of our work; you may be required to take on an incident role and provide business continuity support during incidents (this may attract additional payment).
