Due to continued growth and expansion, we are looking for a skilled CNC Team Leader to lead our Machine Shop shift team. As Machine Shop Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the CNC shop floor, ensuring that production targets are met efficiently and safely. The role requires strong technical knowledge of CNC machining processes, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. You will lead a small team of CNC Operators, Setters and Programmers, providing guidance, support, and training as necessary along with setting and operating machines when not fulfilling other Team Leader duties.
Location: Rotherham, Yorkshire
Responsibilities include:
1. Supervision of the Machine Shop;
2. Supporting, coaching, mentoring, training, and developing team members, identifying training needs;
3. Ensuring team efficiency, effectiveness, and target achievement;
4. Meeting production schedules and setting clear objectives;
5. Driving process improvements and efficiencies;
6. Interpreting technical drawings, programming, setting up, and operating CNC machinery;
7. Supervising machine operation, making real-time adjustments;
8. Reporting and documenting discrepancies and maintenance faults;
9. Generating shift handovers and overseeing process changes;
10. Participating in meetings for production and contract updates;
11. Writing CNC milling programs (Fanuc, Edgecam / Cadcam);
12. Setting up and developing new and existing products on machine centres;
13. Assisting in designing jigs and fixtures;
14. Maintaining program registers and tool inventories;
15. Creating SOPs, setup sheets, and production documents.
About you
1. Recent and relevant experience in Machine Shop Team Leading or Supervisory roles;
2. Experience with precision measurement instruments;
3. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications;
4. Strong math skills for measurements and calculations;
5. Demonstrated manufacturing best practices;
6. Flexible and adaptable to changing requirements;
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
8. Focus on quality and continuous reinforcement of its importance;
9. Strong problem-solving skills and innovation capabilities.
