Island Health's Department of Psychiatry, South Island, is recruiting a part‑time Psychiatrist to join the Western Communities MHSU Hub (WC Hub).
The WC Hub delivers fully integrated psychiatry services within a team‑based care model. Care coordinators serve as the primary clinician for clients, and psychiatrists provide ongoing care as needed.
WC Hub services are for MHSU clients requiring urgent counseling or specialized outpatient services. The team is composed of counselors, case managers/care coordinators, nurses, concurrent disorders workers, peer supporters, mental‑health support staff, and addictions medicine services. Services include a single‑session walk‑in access point to improve accessibility and responsiveness for Western communities, and facilitate recovery for individuals with mental health and substance use challenges.
Collaboration with primary care partners and close work with family and social networks of patients are integral to the clinical model.
Virtual care and TeleMHSU technologies complement care and support outreach to surrounding communities.
The successful candidate will have expertise and interest in working in a collaborative interdisciplinary team, including PCPs, psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, nurse practitioners, peers and nurses.
