Were looking for an apprentice who wants to begin a career in accountancy, develop bookkeeping skills and play a valuable role in our team.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. Youll learn on the job by getting hands‑on experience.


What youll do at work

Youll work across both our bookkeeping and admin teams – helping to process financial information, maintain accurate records, support client work and keep things running smoothly in the office. Alongside your day‑to‑day responsibilities, youll study for the AAT Level 2 Finance Assistant qualification, with dedicated study time built into your working week.


Key Responsibilities

* Processing day‑to‑day financial information, including invoices, receipts and bank transactions
* Checking data for completeness and accuracy
* Assisting with bank reconciliations and other routine bookkeeping tasks
* Preparing simple schedules or summaries to support VAT returns, accounts and tax returns
* Helping gather information from clients when needed
* Assisting our admin assistant with tasks such as uploading documents, preparing client folders and managing shared inboxes
* Supporting new client onboarding, including sending welcome communications and collecting required information
* Updating internal trackers, spreadsheets and digital filing systems
* Answering calls, greeting visitors and helping keep the office organised and efficient
* Communicating professionally with colleagues and clients, mainly by email and phone
* Working closely with bookkeeping, accounts and admin colleagues to keep workflows running smoothly
* Asking questions and seeking clarification to ensure tasks are completed correctly
* Using accounting and office software confidently (with training provided)
* Maintaining accurate digital records and following data protection procedures
* Studying towards the AAT Level 2 qualification with time allocated within your working week
* Completing online learning, assignments and skills development activities
* Being open to feedback, support and coaching as you grow into the role

What youll learn

* Record transactional data.
* Use the organisations standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
* Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
* Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
* Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
* Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
* Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.


Training Schedule

The successful candidate will be required to attend weekday courses, once a week, at First Intuition to study towards their AAT Level 2 qualification as well as mentoring towards the Level 2 Apprenticeship knowledge, skills, and behaviours.

Desirable qualifications

* GCSE in English (grade 4/C or above)
* GCSE in Maths (grade 4/C or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
