This is a 12 month locum appointment to the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to support acute and elective Colorectal and General surgical services and rectal cancer education and research for the Pelican Cancer Foundation. Both a strong research background and a specialist interest in colorectal care are required for this role.
Main duties of the job
This is a locum appointment to the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to support acute and elective Colorectal, Peritoneal Malignancy and General surgical services. This role is also designed to lead the Pelican
Cancer Foundation research programme and the education programme as well as acting as a Clinical Lead for the Pelican Cancer Foundation Board.

Training and Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. FRCS or equivalents required
2. Registration with the GMC & licence to practice
3. Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview
Desirable criteria
4. Post Graduate Thesis
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
5. Clinical training and experience in general surgery
6. Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on range of problems both emergency and elective within specialty
7. Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
Desirable criteria
8. CCT or equivalent/advanced level training
Skills & Ability
Essential criteria
9. 18 months + experience in colorectal surgery
10. Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of specialist service
11. Ability to motivate and develop the multidisciplinary team, balancing departmental and personal objectives
Teaching & Audit
Essential criteria
12. Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems
13. Involvement in clinical audits
14. Completion of a significant audit which changed practice
15. Publications in refereed journals
