Overview
We are seeking to appoint a Governance Officer (or two part-time postholders) to strengthen our governance capacity across the Trust. This role is central to supporting the effectiveness of our Local Academy Boards (LABs) and ensuring high-quality governance practice.
The successful candidate will play a key role in clerking LAB meetings, providing accurate and timely minutes, managing agenda preparation, and ensuring governance processes are compliant with statutory and Trust requirements. Alongside clerking responsibilities, the Governance Officer will provide governance administration, guidance, and support to LAB Chairs, Trustees, and school leaders.
This role sits within our Central Team and contributes to the smooth and effective running of Trust-wide governance. The postholder will act as a professional representative of the Trust, working closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders and demonstrating high levels of organisation, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
LAB meetings take place in the late afternoon and evening across schools in Wakefield, Kirklees, and Barnsley and are face-to-face meetings. Availability for evening meetings is essential, and working patterns (full-time or part-time) will be designed to ensure appropriate clerking coverage. The role is based in Wakefield, with working from home for one day each week.
We welcome applications from candidates seeking either a full-time role or a part-time/job-share arrangement.
