Post holder will be working as part of the paediatric diabetes team which includes clinicians, consultants, dietitians, and psychology. The role involves working across acute wards and community premises, including educational establishments, providing care and assessment for children and young people presenting with diabetes.

Responsibilities include:
1. Working autonomously in the provision of specialist, evidence-based diabetes care.
2. Providing a high-quality service for children and young people with diabetes and their families within various settings, including homes, schools, wards, clinics, and community settings within Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.
3. Assisting in the implementation and adoption of local diabetes policies and guidelines.
4. Maintaining Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust standards in all aspects of the job.
5. Involvement in inpatient care, facilitating safe discharge.
6. Supporting families of newly diagnosed and established diabetes patients to develop understanding and manage daily care.
7. Participating in community care of children and young people with diabetes and their families.
8. Supporting outpatient care and management during illness and crises.
9. Supporting young people's transition to adulthood with diabetes.
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300. It offers inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital and a wide range of community services. The hospital features state-of-the-art facilities, including a Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and an Urgent and Emergency Care Centre opened in March 2023.
