We are supporting a forward-thinking organisation based on the outskirts of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire with the recruitment of a production manager, this is a new position and has been created as part of the company’s succession planning for the future. The production manager role plays a vital role in the company, fostering a people-first environment where individuals are empowered, supported, and inspired to thrive.
Job Accountabilities for production manager
Operational Leadership
* Oversee daily operations of a busy production environment to ensure production targets are met efficiently and safely.
* Coordinate with Team Leaders to manage workflow, shift planning, and resource allocation. Monitor and optimise line performance, including packs per minute, packaging usage, checkweigher outputs and camera grading system.
Team Management
* Lead, Coach and develop Team leaders to maintain high performance and engagement.
* Build strong relationships with both shift teams and key business stakeholders.
* Conduct regular performance reviews and support training and development plans.
* Ensure adequate cover and contingency planning for key roles during absences.
Quality & Compliance
* Ensure all production activities comply with BRC Global Standards and internal quality protocols.
* Work closely with QA to address non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
* Maintain hygiene, traceability, and food safety standards across all production areas.
Continuous Improvement
* Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
* Collaborate with the Operations Manager on strategic initiatives and capital projects.
* Use data (e.g., checkweigher trends, downtime reports) to drive performance improvements. Communication & Reporting
* Provide daily and weekly updates to the Operations Manager on KPIs, staffing, and issues.
* Liaise with HR and recruitment on staffing needs and onboarding of new team members.
* Represent the production team in cross-functional meetings and audits.
Personal skills required for the production manager
* Driven and focused to achieve the company goals, an ideas person who is constantly looking at process improvements
* Previous experience of working in FMCG would be helpful need to able to work in a fast-paced environment where no 2 days are the same
* An implementor
* Would suit a production supervisor/team leader looking for the next stage in their career need to have the desire to succeed and achieve could alternately suit a current production manager who is looking for join a successful and forward thinking company
