About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Support Worker to provide one-to-one support for a Year 10 student in a SEMH school setting. This role requires someone who is passionate about breaking down barriers to learning and committed to helping students reach their full potential in a challenging environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide tailored support to a student with SEN needs and highly challenging behaviour.
* Implement strategies to manage behaviour effectively and maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
* Work closely with teaching staff to adapt learning materials and approaches to meet individual needs.
* Build strong, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and progress.
* Promote emotional regulation and resilience through consistent, supportive interactions.
Essential Qualities and Experience:
* Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN and SEMH needs.
* Proven ability to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour calmly and professionally.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport and trust.
* Patience, resilience, and adaptability in a dynamic school environment.
* Ability to break down learning barriers and motivate students to achieve their goals.
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Desirable:
* Relevant qualifications in SEN, SEMH, or behaviour management.
* Experience in therapeutic or trauma-informed approaches.
Hours: Full-time
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
