Job Purpose
This role is part of the statutory returns team, responsible for external reporting of accurate data in accordance with HESA and SFC. The holder will improve data quality and manage key information assets to enhance the University's data and data governance maturity. This includes data collection, auditing, validation, and ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines. The team analyzes returns, assesses impacts on the University, and presents management information. The role requires an in-depth understanding of student data lifecycle, structure, and use, providing expert advice and recommendations to support management decisions. The role also involves offering advice on business processes and technical areas within professional guidelines.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
1. Coordinate the work of the HESA team, setting priorities and ensuring efficient, effective, and professional service delivery. Regularly review and improve processes and procedures.
2. Review data for inconsistencies or anomalies, challenge poor data management practices, and coordinate solutions to improve data quality supporting operational and reporting needs.
3. Review HESA Data Futures requirements, lead on adoption and preparation, ensuring systems and processes are fit for purpose to meet data futures demands.
4. Oversee the production of HESA Data Futures Student return analysis and output, ensuring data accuracy and providing management insights on the results.
5. Communicate closely with all data collection and transformation services for operational, strategic, and external reporting purposes.
6. Enhance data quality in student records and other databases to support Data Governance initiatives.
7. Enforce Data Governance activities across all domains, covering ownership, onboarding, standards, rules, and processes.
8. Participate in Data Governance communities, ensuring decision-making evolves to meet University needs.
9. Train and educate Data Stewards and Owners on data governance and quality management practices using the Data Governance framework.

* Experience with Data quality projects in Higher Education.
* Knowledge of SFC Guidelines and Policies.
* Knowledge of HESA Guidelines and Policies.
* Understanding of Data Management Practices.

Experience
* Relevant Data Management experience with a degree qualification.
* Experience with MyCampus, PowerBI, and SQL.
* Experience working with databases and producing management reports.

* Report writing skills.
* Experience with HESA and SFC statutory returns.
Terms and Conditions
Salary: Grade 7, £39,347 - £44,263 per annum. Full-time (35 hours/week), permanent position.
