Overview
An exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified, registered and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join the forward‑thinking and friendly Burnley and Pendle Children's Therapy Team. You will work as part of an integrated children’s therapy team providing speech & language therapy for children referred for assessment and intervention. This role is part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, which delivers a comprehensive range of services.
Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of children and young people with complex and/or additional needs.
* Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and young people with varied presentations, using investigative and analytical skills to formulate hypotheses and determine appropriate interventions and goals.
* Establish individualized management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning and evidence‑based treatment skills and options to formulate interventions and programmes of care.
* Coordinate, develop and deliver training programmes and information packages for colleagues in health, education, social care, voluntary sector organisations and parents/carers.
* Identify service‑development needs and deliver service‑development projects.
* Engage with and support clinical leads within professional development activities.
* Provide specialist advice to team colleagues in the area of own practice regarding specific service‑delivery issues.
* Provide clinical and management supervision to junior colleagues.
* Support assistant practitioners in managing a delegated caseload and manage own time and caseload effectively.
Qualifications
* Qualified, registered and experienced Speech and Language Therapist.
* Extensive experience managing a diverse caseload of children with speech, language and communication needs.
* Competency or interest in managing eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties (desirable).
* Excellent communication skills to support relationships with families and colleagues.
* Strong organisational and time‑management skills; able to supervise junior therapists and assistants.
* Enthusiastic about professional development, leadership skills in service innovation, supervision and line management.
* Eligible for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. A charge will be made to the successful candidate if the post is subject to DBS disclosure.
