Trust Doctor in Paediatric Surgery Specialist Registrar ST3-6 Level

The Department of Paediatric Surgery provides secondary and tertiary surgical services to the local and wider population. There are approximately 6,000 births per annum, including neonatal surgery. A full range of paediatric surgery and urology sub-specialties is performed, excluding neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, hepatobiliary, and oncology.
At Hull Royal Infirmary, facilities include inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, surgical theatres, and a Children's Emergency Department. Neonatal surgery is also performed on the site.
Main duties of the job
Applications are invited for a Trust Doctor within Paediatric Surgery - Registrar Doctor ST3-7 level. This post is suitable for surgeons who have completed their Core Surgical Training and seek experience in Paediatric Surgery. Applicants must be fully registered practitioners who have completed basic surgical training.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* oMRCS, FRCS, or equivalent
* oCCBST
* Commitment to a career in Paediatric Surgery
* Registered Medical Practitioner
* ATLS and/or APLS; MD, MS, PhD, etc.
Professional Registration
* Full registration with the GMC
Clinical Experience
* Completion of 2 years BST at SHO level, approved by the Royal College or equivalent abroad
* Experience in Paediatric Surgery at SHO or Registrar level
* Skills appropriate to experience
* Evidence of sustained progress through training
* 6-12 months in post-basic Paediatric Surgery training
* Additional experience in General Surgery or relevant surgical specialties
* A&E, Neonatal, and Paediatric Intensive Care experience
Management and Administration Experience
* Basic understanding of audit processes
* Participation in personal and unit audits
* Basic IT skills
* Involvement in audit from initiation to completion
* Management or committee experience
* Understanding of Clinical Governance
