The team within the unit will support children with speech, language and communication needs. The unit is situated on the Elveden school site and is part of the school community. The children within the unit will benefit from an enriched and needs- specific learning environment but will also spend time learning within Elveden’s mainstream setting. This small-scale approach gives our pupils with speech, language and communication needs a real opportunity to thrive and achieve their potential. We are seeking a committed and vibrant higher level teaching assistant who has a passion for supporting and delivering learning to pupils with Speech and Language difficulties. You should be able to support the teacher with specific SLCN provision, so that it can be achieved alongside a child-centred EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) KS1 curriculum. We require the teaching assistant to hold a HLTA or equivalent qualification. Elveden C of E Primary Academy is a small, rural school on the outskirts of Thetford and Brandon. We currently have 105 pupils on roll and will be growing to 123 with an exciting expansion in progress. Within the unit the pupils on roll will be 18. Experience of teaching pupils with Speech and language needs is desirable, but not essential. However, the ability to adapt learning and use initiative is essential, as is a good knowledge of SEND provision and the importance of inclusion. Early excellence knowledge would also be beneficial. A keen interest in continuous provision, forest Schools and play based learning is also something we would like to find in the ideal candidate.
