Position Overview
Part time term time fixed term. Location: York. Salary: £26,093 per annum (£4,336.66 pro rata). This Chaplaincy Assistant reports to the Chaplain and works within the Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Team to deliver a vibrant programme of events for staff and students.
Responsibilities
* Host regular lunches.
* Facilitate small groups.
* Work in partnership with other Chaplaincy Assistants.
* Take an active role in Welcome Week and other university-wide events.
* Assist in the planning and delivery of the Chaplaincy programme.
* Provide inclusive, sensitive support to staff and students of all backgrounds.
Term and Work Hours
Term time only, 8 hours per week, ideally on a Tuesday plus one other day. Position runs from mid-September 2026 to mid-June 2027.
Required Skills and Experience
* Outgoing and inclusive nature with experience of interacting with people of diverse backgrounds.
* Ability to build constructive relationships with staff and students, offering sensitivity and warmth.
* Awareness of major religious festivals and customs.
* Exploring a vocation to Chaplaincy and/or ministry in your own faith is desirable.
