This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative multi-disciplinary team, to help shape a physical health monitoring service for people in Devon, who have a moderate to severe eating disorder.
We are seeking an experienced, passionate and motivated individual to join the team at this exciting time. You will have a key role in leading, developing and providing a novel approach to resolving the challenges of providing physical health monitoring and advice for individuals with an eating disorder across Devon (excluding Plymouth).
You will have a unique opportunity to have training and supervision from both psychiatric and physical health consultants to help you and the team develop the skills needed to manage the physical monitoring of this patient population.
This a full time post and is subject to Band 7 job matching as per Agenda for change.
You will be well supported within the teams and encouraged to develop your clinical and leadership skills within a stimulating learning environment.
Your base will be in Exeter but you will be covering physical health clinics across Exeter, Torbay and North Devon and potentially visiting GP surgeries and patients homes.
Main duties of the job
You will be running physical health clinics across the main DPT sites, Wonford House, Torbay, North Devon and Student Health services.
There will be a health care assistant to assist you in the clinics and access to a GP with a specialist interest in eating disorders.
You will be reviewing the test results and planning the treatment approach in relation to the individuals physical health monitoring
Liaison with acute medical wards for individuals on the caseload that require a medical admission and those being discharged from the ward.
Liaison with Specialist Eating Disorder Units (SEDUs) to ensure physical health monitoring arrangements are in place for individuals upon discharge.
Communication with GPs across Devon about the physical health arrangements for individuals on their caseload.
Providing training to other staff about the physical health monitoring needs of individuals with an eating disorder
Taking an active role in the on-going evaluation and development of this new service/model.

Qualifications
Essential
* Degree level or Diploma qualification and professional registration as a Registered Nurse.
* MSc or BSc in Advanced Professional Practice or Nurse Practitioner or willingness to work towards this
* Nurse Prescriber qualification or willingness to work towards this
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
* Qualification / training in medical monitoring / investigation interpretation, e.g. blood results, ECG (or a willingness to be trained in ECG interpretation)

* Recognised management training and qualification or willingness to work toward it
* Training to Level 4 in Safeguarding children, young people and adults: roles and competencies for Health Care staff

* Ability to work flexibly across service boundaries and with professionals from health care settings such as GPs, District General Hospitals
* To effectively manage own caseload and work flexibly to support service needs
