Responsibilities
– Consultant Hydrogeologist
1. Undertake detailed hydrogeological, geological and environmental assessments across diverse UK sites
2. Plan and supervise complex site investigation works, ensuring compliance with internal and industry standards
3. Conduct groundwater, surface water and gas monitoring, using a variety of field testing techniques
4. Collate, analyse and manage environmental and geological data for risk assessments and reporting
5. Apply specialist modelling software for risk assessments to assess impacts on human health and controlled waters
6. Lead and support the preparation of environmental permits, contamination studies and technical reports
7. Manage project data quality, review team outputs, and ensure alignment with quality management systems
8. Assist in project planning, proposal writing, budgeting, and managing deliverables to time and cost
9. Actively support and mentor colleagues, providing training on field methods and technical standards
10. Communicate clearly with internal teams and external stakeholders, representing the consultancy professionally
What We’re Looking For in a Consultant Hydrogeologist
11. MSc in Hydrogeology or closely related Earth Sciences discipline (desirable)
12. BSc, MSci or equivalent in Geology, Earth or Environmental Science
13. Member or Fellow of the Geological Society (or working towards professional accreditation)
14. Strong fieldwork background, with experience supervising site investigations
15. Excellent technical writing and communication skills
16. Proficient in environmental and hydrogeological risk assessment models and relevant software
