As part of the onsite UK Production Engineering support shift team, you will manage daily systems and projects, including maintaining graphic systems & incoming data workflows, and resolving reactive video & audio technical issues. You will support productions across Sky News, Sports News, and other high-profile channels, ensuring smooth operations.
What You'll Do
* Provide reactive first-line support for Sky’s TV Production, Graphics, and Post Production Facilities, including programming and events such as Sky News, Sky Sports News, F1, Football, Cricket, and more.
* Work a shift pattern with Associate/Junior Engineers, Engineers & Senior Engineers.
* Conduct fault finding and troubleshooting across broadcast and post-production environments.
* Create and update support tickets, managing tasks to resolution.
* Engage in on-the-job learning, exploring traditional broadcast solutions and future broadcasting technologies.
* Perform proactive maintenance and monitoring of hardware, software, and mechanical systems in a broadcast environment.
What You'll Bring
* A degree or qualification in Broadcast Engineering/Media Technologies or equivalent.
* Strong understanding of broadcast TV chain elements, including both traditional and IP/Software solutions.
* Extensive support experience in Broadcast Engineering.
* Effective communication skills and the ability to influence and coach others.
* Knowledge of Broadcast IP standards such as SMPTE 2022, SMPTE 2110, AoIP (AES67), and PTP.
* Knowledge of graphics systems (VizRT, Chyron) is beneficial.
* Experience with Microsoft Windows systems, including Win10/11 and Server 2012-2022.
* IT and networking skills for fault diagnosis.
* Active Directory knowledge.
* Fault investigation skills and log analysis.
Work Schedule
You will work a shift pattern covering 24/7/365, including early, late, and night shifts, with a 7-day fortnight schedule.
