Network Architect
GBP65,000-GBP78,000/annum + approximately GBP25,000/annum in additional bonuses + medical cover + double matched pension
Basingstoke or Bracknell ideally, Birmingham or Stevenage also possible - hybrid (at least 3 days on site)
Will need to achieve DV clearance if not already held
Sanderson Government and Defence are supporting a major multinational defence organisation in their search for a Network Architect to join a high-performing team delivering secure solutions to government clients. This is a delivery-focused role requiring a strong engineering foundation, excellent customer engagement skills, and a blend of hands-on and strategic architectural expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the design and delivery of secure network solutions across Cisco and Juniper platforms
* Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers, with future line management responsibilities (up to 7 direct reports)
* Act as a technical authority, capable of answering complex questions and resolving urgent issues
* Collaborate closely with clients, ensuring solutions meet both technical and business requirements
* Support and guide delivery teams, ensuring high standards and timely execution
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Strong background in network engineering with a transition into architecture
* Expertise in Cisco and Juniper technologies, with a security-focused approach
* Exposure to Gigamon is ideal, but flexibility exists for candidates willing to learn
* Proven experience in customer-facing roles and stakeholder management
* Mentoring experience is essential; line management experience is a plus
Additional Requirements:
* Must hold UK nationality
* Must be able to work on-site at least three days per week
* Will undergo DV clearance
Interview Process:
* Two-stage interview, with the final stage conducted on-site
