This role will sit within our London and UK Regions COO function. The UK Change and Transformation team play a vital role in delivering improvements into those operational teams which support Underwriting, Claims and other support functions, whilst at the same time undertaking transformation activities with which to broaden, and better control the services provided by these teams. This exciting opportunity will allow the incumbent to lead and manage a number of key projects, working closely with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of projects aligned with our Sompo strategic goals. This delivery will play a key part in supporting business growth and strengthening the operational resilience of the services provided to Underwriting, Underwriting Operations, Claims, and UK Insurance supporting functions. The successful candidate will report to a Programme Manager who will have a remit aligned to Business Line(s) and other support Functions.**Location:** This position will be based out of our **London** office. We strive for collaboration which is why we offer a work environment where our employees thrive and develop long lasting careers.**Our business, your impact, our opportunity:****What you’ll be doing:****Project Delivery Aligned to Strategic Objectives:** Lead the end-to-end delivery of multiple interdependent projects that form part of broader strategic programmes, ensuring alignment with Sompo’s business goals and transformation agenda. This will include:* Translate programme-level roadmaps into detailed project plans with clear scope, deliverables, timelines, dependencies, and governance.* Ensure all project activities contribute to the overarching programme vision, commercial outcomes, and transformation priorities (e.g., digitisation, operational efficiency, cultural evolution).**Business Case and Benefits Realisation Support:** Support the development and validation of business cases by delivering project-level inputs and insights. This will include:* Provide detailed project estimates, resource requirements, and risk assessments to inform ROI modelling and cost-benefit analyses.* Track and report on project outcomes and benefits realisation, contributing to post-implementation review and measurement.**Change Management Execution:** Apply structured change management methodologies to ensure project outcomes are adopted and embedded into business-as-usual operations. This will include:* Proactively engage stakeholders to identify and mitigate change resistance.* Ensure impacted teams are fully informed, trained, and ready for transition, with UAT and go-live activities aligned to business readiness criteria.**Stakeholder Engagement and Communication**: Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels across the business. This will include:* Provide regular updates, dashboards, and communications to senior management and workstream leads, ensuring visibility of project progress, risks, and decisions.* Facilitate collaboration across teams and functions to remove blockers and ensure aligned delivery.**Project Governance and Execution:** Manage the full project lifecycle with rigour and discipline to deliver against time, cost, quality, and scope targets. This will include:* Lead cross-functional project teams and ensure delivery is tracked and managed via programme-aligned governance.* Produce and maintain all required project documentation, RAID logs, and reporting artefacts to programme standards.**Capacity Planning**: work closely with senior leadership and department heads to assess resource requirements, ensuring that the business has the necessary capacity to deliver successful projects.**Resource Management:** coordinate resources, budgets, and timelines to ensure successful implementation of each project. This will include:* Overseeing budgets and expenses related to service delivery to optimise costs and benefits.* Forecasting and reallocating resources as priorities shift to maintain momentum.* **Performance Monitoring:** measuring and evaluating project performance ensuring adherence to SLAs and KPIs through effective reporting, and escalation through to mitigation, where necessary.**Innovation and Continuous Improvement:** support the company’s growth objectives, through initiatives such as digital transformation and process automation. This will include:* Ensure projects are focused on delivering value to customers, and enhancing operational efficiency.* Champion and drive continuous improvement of project management processes and methodologies within the organisation by identifying lessons learned, contributing to post-implementation reviews, and recommending enhancements to project management practices.**Risk Management:** identify, assess, mitigate and monitor risks across projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget, and with (known) minimal disruption to operational activities.**Compliance and Governance:** ensure that all projects adhere to legal, regulatory, and internal governance standards.**Team Leadership:** support the building and leading of high-performing project teams, making workforce decisions based on demand and service utilisation.**Training & Development:** Collaborate with programme and change teams to build delivery capability, actively participating in knowledge sharing, coaching, and continuous development to enhance the team’s performance and support a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.**What you’ll bring:*** Minimum 5+ years of successful, continuous Project Management experience in the London Market. Experience working within Insurance is essential; must have background within Insurance and/or London Market (Lloyd’s).* A proven track record in the delivery change projects within itself or as part of large and complex change and transformation programme* Experience working closely with a wide variety of Insurance functions (Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Actuarial, Finance, IT, Compliance etc.)* Experience in underwriting & claims systems ; namely Guidewire Policy & Claims Centre, Genius, SAP.* Advanced knowledge of project [related] tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, MS Projects etc)* Ability to manage people, with strong interpersonal skills, relationship building skills and strong negotiation skills* Experience of Target Operating Model, Process / Business Change approaches such as Lean, Six Sigma and extensive stakeholder engagement models.* Demonstrate ability to effectively manage projects from design through to implementation* Exposure to working closely with business analysts, IT Development, MI, QA and PMO teams* Strong understanding of risk management and governance framework* Stakeholder Management experience, up to C-Suite level* Evidence of formal
