Nature of the work, key duties:
The Production Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating and monitoring machinery during process operations. The duties assigned to the Production Operator consist of the following:
* Collect bales of plastic bottles from storage area
* Prepare and load material onto the infeed conveyor
* Collect waste offtakes and transport to the next proces step or to waste storage area
* Remove incorrect material from process conveyor and deposit into a waste container
* Carry out in-process checks on material ensuring quality stands are maintained
* Transport bales of waste material to waste material storage area
* Transport bales of other plastic materials to designated storage area
* Load empty finished product storage bags onto loading stations
* Remove full finished product bags from loading stations and transport to designated storage area
* Maintain housekeeping to the safe and high standard that Biffa require
* Report to the shift supervisor operational safety issues and any equipment performance issues or concerns
This position requires listening and operating skills to liaise with supervisors and team members on a daily basis, to aid the shift in meeting a multitude of targets – QSHE and production. The Production Operator will be required to train in a number roles so that the shift can adapt to maintain optimum standards during the shift.

* Basic knowledge of Health & Safety in an industrial / processing environment
* Ensure employee safety and morale by maintaining a safe working environment.
* Fork Lift Truck licence (training provided if required)
