Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Assistant Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, particularly those with autism and special educational needs. This role involves supporting the lead teacher in creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment, where every child can thrive and develop their skills.
Responsibilities
* To act as Cover Supervisor, covering/supervising whole classes during the short-term
* absence of teachers.
* To work with withdrawal and small groups to provide support and intervention.
* To lead a team of Assistant Teachers as required. To work collaboratively with teaching staff and assist teachers in the whole planning
* cycle and the management/preparation of resources.
* To complement teachers' delivery of the national curriculum and contribute to the
* development of other support staff, pupils and Academy policies andstrategies.
* To provide support for pupils, the teacher and the Academy in order to raise standards of achievement for all pupils (e.g. additional SEN, EAL, GT, FSM, underachievers), by utilising advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes.
* To encourage pupils to become independent learners, to provide support for their
* welfare, and to support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life.
* Previous experience working with children, particularly those with autism or special educational needs, is highly desirable.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
* Experience in tutoring or mentoring roles will be advantageous in providing tailored support to students.
* A background in special education or related fields is preferred but not mandatory; a willingness to learn and adapt is crucial.
* A genuine passion for educating young minds and fostering their development is essential for success in this role.
