Cape Primary School is a wonderfully diverse community in the heart of Smethwick. We are looking for an excellent classroom practitioner for either key stage 1 or 2 who will have responsibility for leading PE across the school to ensure high-quality teaching, effective use of resources, and improved standards of learning and achievement in Physical Education (PE) across all year groups.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
• Plan, prepare, assess and teaching, pupils in either Key Stage 1 or 2
• Lead and coordinate PE across the school, ensuring consistency and quality in teaching and learning
• Monitor the teaching, planning, and standards of PE lessons to drive continuous improvement
• Provide support and guidance to staff to enhance their delivery of PE lessons
• Understand and effectively utilise the sports premium fund to enhance PE provision
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate PE with other subjects and school initiatives
• Promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles among students
• Participate in the planning and preparation of pupils for sports events and competitions
Skills and Competencies:
• Qualified teacher status and experience in teaching PE in a primary school setting
• Strong knowledge of curriculum planning, assessment, and teaching strategies in PE
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents
• Leadership abilities to lead and coordinate PE initiatives across the school
• Ability to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of PE teaching and learning
• Understanding of the sports premium fund and how to maximise its impact on PE provision
• Commitment to promoting physical activity, health, and well-being among students
