Role Overview
We’re on the hunt for the next great Senior Social Media Video Editor to take JAAQ’s innovative mental health storytelling and share it with the world. This is a fast, dynamic creator role that blends creativity with social media expertise to craft compelling narratives, from 30-second reels to longer interviews.
You’ll work with hours of powerful storytelling on mental health topics and identify strong short-form storytelling opportunities from the existing footage. You’ll shape hooks, animations, and pacing to maximize engagement and reach.
You’ll thrive if you bring a hunter mentality and can identify multiple assets within one timeline, watching hours of footage to generate opportunities. You should love testing, learning, and refining, and be ready to push storytelling boundaries.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Capability
* Transform JAAQ’s mental health content into engaging, shareable narratives across short-form video channels.
* Bring a sharp editorial instinct, deep social knowledge, a passion for testing and refining content, and strong MoGraph and VFX skills.
Thought Leadership
* Influence production for JAAQ filming to benefit the wider platform and your own work.
* Challenge the team on what defines good social in pre-production (second cameras, b-roll decisions, etc.).
* Collaborate with the wider social team on publishing calendars and maintain optimal file/folder organization.
* Maximize edits across assets within a single timeline and develop a video cycling plan to repurpose top content every 3–6 months.
Creative Thinking
* Act as a creative strategist to support content across the JAAQ social ecosystem and satellite channels.
* Set and evolve the standard for great social video in collaboration with Head of Social and VP of Content.
* Lead growing social-leaning editors and guide the team from technical to story-led approaches.
* Provide editing guidance to free up the Head of Social and foster a collaborative environment.
