Site Engineer - Rail / Civil Engineering Location: Swanley, South EastSite Based: Basildon Station (initial project) Business Unit Overview: Join a fast-paced business unit involved in a range of civil engineering works across various sectors, with a strong focus on rail infrastructure projects. Our portfolio includes bridges, embankments, stations, platforms, and tunnels. We cater to both one-off tendered projects and long-term framework agreements, collaborating with key clients for both asset management and infrastructure projects. Current Contracts: Our existing contracts include C2C infrastructure projects and aviation frameworks. Typical works involve bridge reconstruction/replacement, upgrades and refurbishments, station work (platforms, access for all), and flood repair and alleviation. The Role: As a Site Engineer, you will oversee the daily management of construction and civil engineering activities for rail infrastructure projects. The successful candidate must hold experience of heavy piling works associated with major civils schemes. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Supervising and monitoring daily construction activities. Interpreting and implementing technical drawings and specifications. Ensuring projects are delivered according to design plans and timelines. Overseeing overall site safety, health, environmental, and quality standards. Setting out and surveying works on site. Managing the work of subcontractors and engineers as required. Maintaining accurate records of all site activities, including a daily diary. Ordering materials and managing site logistics. Assisting in weekly site planning and documentation, including Risk Assessments and Inspection Test Plans. Requirements: To succeed in this role, you should have: Degree, HNC, or HND in Civil Engineering. Proven setting out experience with a strong understanding of surveying principles. Ability to accurately interpret contract drawings and specifications. Experience managing on-site dimensional control. Supervision and management of labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors. Experience in maintaining detailed progress and quality control records. Prior experience in weekly planning for site work, including managing associated documentation like Inspection Test Plans and Work Package Plans. Heavy piling experience is essential.
