Emergency Department Assistant
Emergency Department Assistant at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will provide front‑line support in an acute, high‑pressure environment.
Responsibilities
* Work as an Emergency Department Assistant within a high‑pressure, fast‑moving environment
* Prioritise and deliver care to patients
* Demonstrate high standards of care and set examples of best practice in the delivery of patient care in the Emergency Department
* Ensure patients’ safety, privacy and dignity are maintained at all times
* Assist in age‑related play and distraction therapy
* Support the registered nurses of the Emergency Department
* Undertake duties as determined by the Department Managers and Matron, including working within the main department during surge periods
* Provide essential care for patients, safe transfer around the hospital, waste management and maintaining a hygienic environment
* Ensure patient safety, comfort and welfare and provide support to relatives and advocates as required
Working Hours
Flexible shift patterns covering Monday‑Sunday, days and nights, 365 days a year.
Qualifications & Skills
Applicants should be organised, IT literate, and able to prioritise a multitude of demands. Previous experience in care and in an Emergency Department is desirable but not essential.
