We are looking for a Specialist Grade Doctor within General Adult Psychiatry in the Hywel Dda University Health Board in North Ceredigion. Applicants should have 12 years postgraduate experience, 6 years of which should be in Psychiatry. Preference will be given to doctors with experience in Learning Disabilities, Old Age, and Adult Psychiatry.
Responsibilities
* Be responsible for the assessment and management of community patients and relevant CMHT inpatients.
* Be expected to remain closely involved with the care of those admitted to the associated wards.
* Provide effective clinical leadership and fully participate in the multidisciplinary team.
* Act as an expert decision maker independently.
* Take clinical responsibility.
* Communicate with other staff to ensure effective patient care.
* Promote evidence-based clinical practice.
* Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and carers, placing them at the centre of the care pathway.
* Manage patients with complex needs.
* Work as a member of the MDT as appropriate.
* Conduct thorough assessments.
* Participate in the development of teaching, training and research within the organisation.
* Actively participate in regular audit and research meetings and postgraduate teaching sessions held by the appropriate department.
* Contribute senior clinical input to the modernisation, development and ongoing operational management of General Adult Psychiatry.
* Demonstrate initiative and resilience to adapt in rapidly changing circumstances.
* Use logical/lateral thinking to solve problems and make decisions.
* Lead and supervise a team.
* Possess excellent interpersonal skills and team‑working skills.
Work Pattern & Requirements
* Full‑time 40 hours per week.
* The post holder will be based at one of our sites and may be required to contribute to the service developments across the MH&LD Directorate.
* You will be expected to be Section 12 approved and to work towards AC Approved Clinician status.
* Minimum 12 years postgraduate experience, 6 of which in Psychiatry.
