Overview
Melbreck Technical is working with a leading designer and manufacturer in the Aerospace sector. Due to continued growth, we are expanding our technical capability and looking for a Principal Electronics R&D Engineer to join our permanent research & development team in Bristol as soon as possible.
The role will be to lead and support projects that have significant commercial and technical importance, developing low‑power electronics designs for novel technology developments.
Responsibilities
* Lead the development of electronics designs for sensors and other equipment of an aircraft.
* Lead the development and testing of prototypes of electronic circuits.
* Analyse circuit designs for compliance with relevant industrial and aerospace standards.
* Work with mechanical and software engineers to integrate electronics and circuit designs with other components and systems.
* Work with suppliers to integrate electronics designs into their equipment.
* Work with customers to integrate equipment into test rigs.
* Attend and lead regular team meetings to review progress against project goals and budgets.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering is preferred; Aerospace Engineering or other relevant technical or scientific subject considered.
* 5–10 years of experience designing electronics for aerospace applications.
* Detailed knowledge of ATEX and related regulations (BS EN IEC 60079, AC 25.981‑1D).
* Programming of embedded microprocessors.
* Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and conduct investigations.
* Proficiency in technical report writing and presentations.
Desirable Experience
* Previous experience with sensor design and sensor networks.
* Knowledge of Aerospace standards ARP4754, ARP4761, and ARINC 611.
* Experience with a wide range of testing, from bench and lab to large‑scale ground and flight testing.
