The Works Scheduler role is a varied and interesting role in one of the Council’s largest front line services. Maintenance & Contracts are responsible for all property related matters relating to the Council’s 7,800 Council homes. The Council spends circa £25m maintaining, improving and keeping those homes safe and decent for our tenants. The service works from a brand new BREEAM outstanding environmentally friendly depot called Layard House. To support the delivery of repairs and void services by leading and dynamically scheduling resources to maximise efficiency using an IT system including planning, organising and communicating with resources and tenants/customers when making appointments. Supporting the delivery of high-quality responsive repairs & voids work within the relevant area of operation. Support the effective monitoring and managing of the performance and on-site progress of IBC Contractors to ensure works are delivered to the required quality standard, on time and to budget. Maintenance & Contracts operatives completed circa 22500 repairs in the past year; we are looking for a hard-working scheduler who will ensure that operatives are assigned to the appropriate jobs and that their time is being fully utilised, with travelling time and other unproductive down time reduced or eliminated. Whilst scheduling you will always adhere to our health and safety policies, and you may be asked to check Ipswich Borough Councils asset management system to check asbestos reports. We would like our scheduler to be someone who isn’t afraid of a challenge, someone who is able to multitask and understand no two days are the same as a scheduler. You will be a good listener, someone who can hold multiple conversations at certain times. Be confident in dealing with any emergency that may arise. Working in conjunction with IBC Customer Contact Centre to ensure the consistent delivery of IBC repairs & voids service to include the correct diagnosis of repairs and appointment of repairs. Support the ongoing development of IBC processes and procedures in relation to responsive repairs & voids. Conduct diary management to sense check operative’s diary and monitor job progression. Being able to effectively communicate with a mixture of trade operatives, liaising with them to book in follow on work. Excellent planning and communication skills are essential. An ability to prioritise completing demands within strict deadlines and a commitment to providing a great customer experience. The role is five days a week, 37 hour (Monday through to Friday) and is based at Layard House, 11 New Way, Ipswich. IP2 OBX. You may be required to work at other locations such as the Council’s head office, Grafton House, on occasions. The Council operates a flexible working policy but due to the nature of this role, which often requires a hands on approach, it is anticipated, you will be expected to work office based at Layard House, not less than three days a week.
