Process Design Engineer Water / Wastewater Location: Newry Salary: £45,000 £70,000 (depending on experience) Sector: Water Engineering Level: Grade 5 / 6 Reports to: Process Engineering Lead Managerial Responsibilities: No (responsible for individual engineering projects) Safety Critical: No About the Role An excellent opportunity for a Process Design Engineer to join a leading water engineering team working across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and the UK. You will deliver process design solutions for water and wastewater treatment projects, supporting tenders, feasibility studies, and full project delivery. Ideal for an experienced engineer with a strong background in municipal water/wastewater treatment processes and a passion for technical problem-solving. Key Responsibilities Process & Technical Design Produce preliminary and detailed process designs, engineering calculations and technical specifications. Prepare optioneering studies, technical reports and project documentation. Evaluate hydraulic and treatment process performance using industry-standard modelling tools. Project Delivery Collaborate within a multidisciplinary engineering team (MEICA, civil, design, automation). Support project engineers throughout tender and delivery phases. Review supplier and subcontractor information for compliance with project standards. Quality, Safety & Compliance Work in line with all health, safety, environmental and quality procedures. Support the technical assurance and quality governance of process design activities. Client & Business Support Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. Support business development through technical expertise and solution-driven input. Experience & Skills Required Degree-qualified in Process, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or similar. 510 years experience in municipal water/wastewater treatment. Strong analytical and problem-solving capability. Ability to manage workloads and deliver high-quality engineering outputs. Experience using process modelling or design software tools.
