Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist – Histology
Location
Queen's Hospital, Romford (must be prepared to work at King George Hospital if required).
Key Responsibilities
* Perform the scientific investigations required in the Histology department under the direction of senior Biomedical Scientists.
* Investigate and process patient specimens supporting the diagnostic service to the trust.
* Participate in supervised training and mentoring of trainees.
* Carry out delegated duties including training, quality, and health and safety activities.
* Support continual improvement of the service, self and team.
Qualifications & Requirements
* HCPC registered.
* Completed the IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology or extensive recent experience in histology.
* Currently working in a routine histology laboratory.
* Excellent communication (verbal and written), organisational and manual dexterity skills.
* Friendly, professional, proactive, self‑motivating and innovative.
* Patient‑focused approach and commitment to continual improvement.
Working Hours
* Monday to Friday; planned shift extension in 2026.
