Salary: £30,000–£35,000 (DOE)
Holiday: 23 days + bank holidays
Working Model: Hybrid (4 days in office initially, reducing after probation)
I am recruiting for an Assistant Management Accountant who will support the finance function across two construction businesses and one construction retail division. This is a key role working closely with the Group Financial Controller to deliver accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and valuablemercial insights.
Purpose of the Role
The Assistant Management Accountant will support the Group Financial Controller and wider finance team in planning, controlling, and analysing financial data. The role exists to ensure accurate reporting and to help management make informed, strategic decisions across the group’s construction and retail operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs for senior management
2. Allocate cash receipts to invoices
3. Match invoices to sales orders and certificates
4. Set up, verify, and process subcontractor payments
5. Process monthly cost transfers and accrual entries
6. Provide documentation and support for internal audits
7. Prepare and submit VAT returns
8. Assist with cashflow forecasting
9. Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
10. Produce sales and stock reports
11. Carry out credit control as required
12. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain supporting schedules
13. Upholdpany values and act as a positive role model within the business
14. Support project work and assist withmercial reporting
15. Work flexibly across different locations when needed, including retail sites
16. Undertake ad‑hoc duties assigned by senior management
Qualifications, Experience &petencies
Qualifications
17. Part‑qualified accountant or equivalent (AAT / CIMA / ACCA / ACA / QBE)
Experience
18. Previous accounting or finance experience is essential
19. Experience within construction or retail environments is beneficial but not required

20. Strong IT skills, particularly Excel
21. Experience with Exchequer or similar finance systems
