Job Description:

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated nurse with breast/oncology experience or Clinical Nurse Specialist experience to join our team at West Hertfordshire NHS Teaching Hospitals.

The post is for 32.5 hours per week, including Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. You will be required to work across sites.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist to support, inform, and advise our breast cancer patients, including those with early and secondary breast cancer. You should have sound knowledge of surgical and oncological management of these patients.

You will be the key worker for patients diagnosed with breast cancer, acting as a link between patients and healthcare professionals to facilitate and improve the patient pathway.

Working for our organisation

There has never been a more exciting time to join West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust! Major redevelopment works are planned as part of the New Hospital Programme, especially at Watford General Hospital, where up to 90% of buildings will be new.

The trust has recently gained ‘teaching hospital’ status, reflecting the dedication of many teams and individuals who set high standards for training, learning, and education at all workforce levels.

We are a flexible working employer

We recognize the importance of work-life balance and offer various flexible working options. Please visit our website for more information.

We encourage and welcome applicants with disabilities. Please ask if you need assistance.

We reserve the right to close this advert early due to high volume of applications. Apply promptly to avoid disappointment.

If you do not hear back within 3 weeks, please assume your application was unsuccessful.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will perform assessments, provide advice, and deliver patient care in an area requiring specific breast cancer clinical knowledge, skills, and experience. Significant post-registration experience at Band 6/7 and evidence of post-registration study in breast cancer are required.

You must have a passion for caring for cancer patients and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You should be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Organizing and dynamically prioritizing your workload is essential.

The post holder will be valued, supported, and will collaborate closely with colleagues across multidisciplinary and cancer/palliative care nursing teams.
