As part of their ongoing growth, our client is seeking a confident and proactive Financial Controller to join their team in Worcester.
Role Overview:
This is a varied and practical finance role ideal for an experienced accounting professional looking to contribute flexibly to a growing business. You'll be responsible for supporting day-to-day financial operations and ensuring that regular reporting and compliance tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. Working closely with the Director and other internal stakeholders, you'll play a key role in maintaining the smooth running of the finance function.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage Sales & Purchase Ledgers: Raise sales invoices, chase payments, issue purchase orders, and process supplier invoices with reconciliations.
· Maintain General Ledger: Reconcile balance sheet accounts, manage prepayments, accruals, depreciation, and fixed asset register.
· Oversee Banking & Cashflow: Maintain cashbook, forecast cash flow, process payments, perform bank reconciliations, and liaise with the bank.
· Process Expenses & Payroll: Handle monthly expense claims, payroll for approx. 10 staff, pension submissions, and P11Ds.
· Produce Financial Reports: Prepare month-end management accounts and internal reports for senior management.
· Handle Tax Compliance: Submit quarterly VAT returns and manage CIS returns in line with regulatory requirements.
· Support Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with annual budget preparation and update monthly financial forecasts.
· Coordinate Annual Audit: Liaise with external auditors, respond to queries, and prepare final trial balance.
· Support HR & Insurance Admin: Raise HR queries with consultants, act as internal contact for HR, and manage business insurance matters.
· Ensure Compliance & Ad Hoc Support: Stay current with accounting standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide general finance/admin support as needed.
Candidate Profile:
· AAT qualified or qualified by experience, with strong practical accounting skills and month-end reporting experience.
· Comfortable operating as the sole finance professional in an SME setting
· Confident in presenting numbers and insights to senior leadership
· Meticulous, reliable, and hands-on, with a 'can-do' mindset
· Collaborative and approachable – a true team player
· SAP Business One experience desirable
