Duties of the Role
As an Examination Officer you would support the planning, preparation, organisation and delivery of all centrally organised examinations; be the first point of contact for student and staff queries; check and proof-read exam papers and organise printing papers for in person exams; assist with the organisation of individual exam arrangements for students; be the initial point of contact for examination invigilators, supporting the recruitment of new invigilators, dealing with their; support the scheduling of exams and the production of the exam timetable; support the allocation of invigilators for examination periods; support budget administration including raising invoices and purchase orders; be a team player with a positive attitude, contributing ideas to the work of the team and ensuring that it operates effectively to deliver its aims and objectives; provide high quality administrative support for functions and projects managed by the team; ensure personal understanding of team goals, aims and objectives and how they fit in with the Directorate and the Section overall.
Qualifications and Skills required
To excel in this role you will have significant and recent administrative work experience; high level experience of bespoke databases; confident handling data for planning, reporting and evaluation; have excellent interpersonal skills; high level of IT literacy; have excellent problem solving skills; excellent verbal and written skills; be highly organised and able to meet deadlines; a commitment to high standards; good judgement and remain calm under pressure: hold a good honours degree, or substantial equivalent experience and have a minimum of 5 GCSE passes at A-C, including Mathematics and English Language at Grade B or above.
On campus working
Although this is offered as hybrid, there will be long periods leading up to, during and following exam periods where the post holder will be expected to be on campus full-time to support the exam operations.
For example, during the Early and Summer exams, the expectation is that you would be on campus every day for 8 weeks to support examinations. You would also need to be able to work on a rota basis during this period, covering shifts between 7am – 3pm, 8am-4pm, or 10am- 6pm. This could include some Saturdays if we are required to schedule exams on a Saturday during the Summer Exam period.
You would also be expected to be on campus for the December and January exams and Resit examinations in August-September.
