Strategic Procurement Specialist / Commodity Manager
Contract position
Hybrid working (twice a week in the office)
Location: Leamington Spa
We seek an experienced procurement professional who is highly motivated and self-driven to:
1. Lead sourcing activities and negotiations for aerospace and industrial components to optimize costs, contract coverage, and supply continuity.
2. Negotiate contracts and prices with suppliers to mitigate risks and optimize commercial advantages for current and future programs.
3. Conduct detailed cost breakdown analyses and negotiate the lowest Total Cost of Acquisition (TCA) to support cost-saving targets.
4. Drive cost reduction and resourcing programs, managing impacts on existing supply chains.
5. Develop and implement comprehensive commodity and supplier strategies to meet business needs across stakeholder groups.
6. Collaborate closely with internal customers to ensure customer satisfaction and early supplier involvement.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Ability to operate effectively in a complex, fast-paced global environment.
2. At least 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing or commodity management.
3. Exceptional Excel skills.
4. Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
5. Excellent commercial, contractual, and project management expertise.
6. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality standards.
7. Experience working with a global supplier network in a matrix organization.
8. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree and/or CIPS certification preferred.
Key Responsibilities
1. Integrate procurement into project management processes, overseeing all procurement activities.
2. Participate in project and sales meetings to influence early-stage decisions and optimize workflows.
3. Establish sourcing and procurement processes, controlling all related activities.
4. Analyze customer inquiries and understand functional needs to incorporate supplier innovations.
5. Support project costing with reliable material cost data.
6. Review scope of supply and contracts, conduct risk analyses, and recommend negotiations.
7. Assess material costs in sales and operations planning for new projects to involve procurement early.
8. Drive and implement procurement strategies within projects.
9. Lead or support contractual and price negotiations.
10. Provide project controlling indicators and compile relevant procurement reports.
11. Systematically communicate procurement-related project information.
