Director of Design – Artisan, Luxury British Sculptures Brand
We are seeking a visionary Design Director to lead the creative future of David Harber Ltd, a multi‑awarded, internationally renowned luxury sculpture brand. This role is a leadership position within our hand‑crafted sculpture studio based in Didcot, Oxfordshire.
Overview
The Design Director will guide the creation and evolution of David Harber’s New, Bespoke, and Classic collections. You will spearhead product innovation, define the brand’s design direction, and represent the company at global design events and client meetings.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the full design process – research, ideation, concept, and product innovation – to deliver commercially successful, elegant sculptures and bespoke pieces.
* Inspire and manage a talented creative team, fostering curiosity, pushing boundaries, and unlocking new potential.
* Collaborate across Engineering, Operations, and Marketing to align design initiatives with business objectives.
* Act as the brand ambassador, representing David Harber at high‑profile UK and international design shows, CPDs, and industry networking events.
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships, translating briefs into bespoke proposals and innovative material solutions.
* Champion the brand’s heritage and vision, ensuring consistency across all product lines and communications.
Required Qualifications & Skills
* Degree in Visual, Product, or Industrial Design (or equivalent) with extensive senior‑level experience in the luxury sector.
* Strong grasp of historical, classical, and contemporary design and the ability to balance creative vision with commercial awareness.
* Exceptional communication, public speaking, and networking skills; proven ability to present to senior stakeholders and clients.
* Leadership experience – motivating, mentoring, and developing a creative team.
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Willingness to travel frequently (minimum six times per year) to represent the brand globally.
